What happens for you when you hear the words mother or Mother’s Day? Your response reveals much about your response to life. From my experience as a Family Constellation facilitator I understand it may not illicit open hearted reverie and warm loving acceptance. The extent of your resistance and discomfort equals the level of dysfunction and difficulty in giving and receiving the abundance that a life well lived offers.
As you become aware of the hidden aspects of your relationship to your mother you will discover; how you are with your mother, is how she was with hers. This is the SECRET. Your experience with your mother was most likely not as challenging, as hers to her mother.
Unseen and unhealed, it goes back through the generations with the burden of difficulty becoming heavier in the female line. This is true as we move down to your children as well.
When this truth comes to light you have a choice, a new option, you can make the search for healing about you, or you can look beyond. I have observed the ultimate healing is not to be found with you, rather it will reveal itself in a time before you. It did not start with you. This is the extraordinary work of the Family Constellation, to heal our broken hearts and lives at the source, an earlier generation.
For your Mothers Day I offer a beautiful exercise to gauge your authentic response to your connection to mother.
These words of healing come from Bert Hellinger, the father of Systemic Family Constellations. As you read this by all means be gentle with yourself. Taking our parents is a journey of the soul, and soul moves slowly. My clients and students work up to this level of deep receiving over time.
